Traders Paying It Forward

Hi Traders,

For our INO.com Cares campaign, we usually select an organization that is near and dear to our heart. It is rare that we come across an organization or event where we can weave our love of trading together with our desire to help others. That is why we had to tell you about TRADERS FOR TONI.

Toni HansenToni Hansen is a mother, author, trader, teacher, and friend to many people in the trading community. She has personal relationships with those here at INO.com and her call for help has been heard loud and clear!

After blacking out at home, Toni was taken to the ER. After numerous hospital visits, spinal taps, CT scans and MRIs, Toni has been accurately diagnosed with a spinal fluid leak. The doctors were able to treat her and she is currently in the recovery process. Unfortunately, her insurance company has denied a bulk of her claim and her medical bills have become unmanageable.

Her friends in the trading community have decided to setup and host TRADERS FOR TONI. This charity benefit will feature an all-star lineup of traders, each sharing their best trading setup or favorite strategy. Every single penny raised will go to Toni and her family, so these expert traders are doing this out of the kindness of their hearts!

The TRADERS FOR TONI event will be held THIS SATURDAY, August 16th. Access to the all day, online event is only $25. If you cannot make it, you can access a recording of the event.

See the lineup below. Please help us help Toni! INO.com will be making a donation for our September INO Cares Campaign to show our support and we hope our blog visitors will consider attending this great fundraiser!

Hope For Guatemala - INO Cares

Hope For GuatemalaWe were so incredibly fortunate to be told about a wonderful organization doing amazing things in Guatemala. INO.com President and co-founder, Adam Hewison, learned about this mission work from his daughter’s father-in-law, Richard Lusk, who has been participating with Hope For Guatemala for over 3 years.

When doing mission work for Hope, Richard Lusk primarily teaches micro-entrepreneurship to the Guatemalan locals with the hopes that they will be able to create and sustain profitable businesses which will remove them from the poverty that is so rampant in Zone 18, the poorest section in Guatemala City.

Hope for Guatemala also provides nutritional breakfast and lunch meals to over 250 children, as well as educational instruction, extracurricular activities and vocational training to over 120 families. Among having farmers donate produce, the organization is also farming and starting a fishery to create a sustainable food source for the families of Zone 18.

Mr. Lusk was kind enough to hand-deliver an INO Cares check to the founders of Hope For Guatemala during his trip. We selected this amazing organization for the month of August, even though we sent funds a tad early.

Mr. Lusk sent a little note once he returned to the states,

"Adam,

I just returned from Guatemala last night and I wanted to share some pictures of the Hope for Guatemala visit we made. It was a great visit and God's love definitely shows to these little kids that are served by this ministry!!

Jose and Erin Armas (the founders of Hope for Guatemala) were so grateful for your donation. Jose and Erin are about 35 years old. He is from Guatemala City and she is from the US. They have 3 kids of their own. They started Hope about 8 years ago. They feed around 275 kids a day, 2 meals per day, 5 days a week. They also help with school work, learning a skill/craft for the older kids as well as improve their nutrition levels. They have recently acquired a horse, and the reward for good grades is a ride on the horse. They have the only library and computer lab in Zone 18 (the poorest zone in the city).

This funding will help them tremendously and they really appreciate it so much. They make a dollar go sooooo far with their hard work and volunteer staff and the kids are in desperate need of nutrition, teaching and for someone to give them care and love.

Your contribution will help insure that this will continue to happen. It was a pleasure to present them with your donation on your behalf.

Thanks again for thinking of Hope for Guatemala and your generosity.

All the best,
Richard"

INO Sponsors 5 Nepalese Students - INO Cares

Traders,

I wanted to share an incredible story with you in the spirit of our INO Cares campaign. It is amazing how one person can make such a tremendous impact and how a chance encounter can turn into something so wonderful!

INO Cares - Nepal SchoolAfter graduating from college in January of 2005, Maryland resident, Mikey Church, decided to take a bicycle ride with his friends from Amsterdam to Cairo and then from India to China. They day they entered Nepal, the King dissolved the government and declared martial law. This caused Maoist Rebels to declare a strike across the country resulting in a halt in travel and commerce. Mikey and his friends happen to cross paths with local village residents and brothers, Ujjwal and Bol Bhat.

Ujjwal encouraged Mikey and his friends to stay with his family until political tensions eased. During this stay, the American boys spoke often with Ujjwal about the poor access to education in Nepal, especially for girls and the desperately poor, and also about Ujjwal’s dream to open a school. Mikey safely returned home, but did not forget the conversations he had with the Nepalese brothers.

Mikey and Ujjwal kept in touch for a few years. When Mikey married his wife in 2008, he asked his guests to make donations in lieu of wedding gifts. Mikey was able to send this money to Ujjwal to open the doors of the Mikey Medium English School, a three room school house in Bauniyan, Kailali to 40 students, 20 of which were girls.

In a letter sent to family and friends, Mikey said, "I am a firm believer in the parable, 'Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.' The benefits of basic education need not be reiterated here. They are plentiful and convincing. Never the less, here is a refresher. Girls who are educated are better able to protect themselves against HIV/AIDS, marry later in life, have healthier children and have work opportunities beyond the home. Boys who are educated may be able to break a family cycle of hard labor and typically earn more than their non-educated counterparts."

Read the full story about Mikey's journey and the Mikey Medium English School.

Today, the Mikey Medium English School enrolls 100 students and employs 5 teachers. Fifty percent of the students are females and fifty percent are desperately poor. Class size does not exceed 20 students. For only $200, Grassroots Education Nepal provides a student at the Mikey Medium English School year-round education, textbooks and supplies, two student uniforms (including socks and shoes), a backpack and sweater.

For our June INO Cares campaign, we are proud to offer scholarships to 5 students so they can attend the Mikey Medium English School for 1 year!

This is such a wonderful story and we could not be more honored to give the gift of education to a handful of Nepalese youth, as well as continue the dream of an American kid and a pair of Nepalese brothers!

To contribute to Grassroots Education Nepal or sponsor a student of your own, please visit Mikey Medium English School’s page.

I hope you enjoyed this story. If you have any ideas for a future INO Cares campaign, please send them our way!

Beards Battling Cancer - INO Cares

One person in the United States is diagnosed with a blood cancer approximately every four minutes. It is estimated that 149,990 people will be diagnosed with Leukemia, Lymphoma or Myeloma in 2014. These LLSwill account for 9% of the total new cancer cases in the United States this year.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is world’s largest voluntary health agency that is dedicated to searching for a cure for blood cancer. LLS raises money not only to fund innovative research, but also provides blood cancer patients and their families with education and support, financial assistance and connections to clinical trials and support networks.

To date LLS has contributed more than $1,000,000,000 towards blood cancer research and patient support!

A few men from our area are coupling their love of golf with their passion to help by putting on the first annual, “Beards Battling Cancer Golf Tournament.” They encouraged participates to grow a little facial hair, show their support and get out on the green!

The tournament took place on June 9th, 2014 at Renditions Golf Course in beautiful Davidsonville, Maryland. We were happy to sponsor a tee-box and provide a cash donation to this worthy cause with all of the proceeds going to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

We hope to get some INO.com employees out on the links next year!

Best,
The INO.com Team

Ride For The Rivers - INO Cares

INO's Office LocationWe are so lucky to work in such a beautiful location. One side of our office building overlooks a thriving marina with fisherman constantly going in and out of port, while the other side of our building has the most beautiful view of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. Seeing river otters, blue heron and bald eagles are not a rare occurrence here.

Our building also houses the office of the West/Rhode Riverkeeper. This non-profit organization is a licensed member of Waterkeeper Alliance, an international movement of on-the-water advocates who patrol and protect 100,000 miles of rivers, streams and coastlines in North and South America, Australia, Europe, Asia and Africa. The Riverkeeper’s goal is to enforce environmental law, promote restoration and to advocate for better environmental policies.

Our beautiful office view would not be as beautiful without the hard work of organizations like the West/Rhode Riverkeeper!

For our May INO Cares campaign, INO.com sponsored a riding team for the West/Rhode Riverkeeper’s first annual “Ride For The Rivers” on May 10th, 2014. Proceeds for this event went to help the West/Rhode Riverkeeper in its efforts to keep the local waterways fishable, swimmable and clean.

This awesome event took riders through the rolling countryside of two of Maryland’s southern counties and followed up with a post ride party!

Adam Hewison, INO.com CEO and President, is an avid biker, so this event was extra special for him. He got out there for the 60-miler and had an absolute blast! Our sponsored INO riding team consistent of 25 riders from the Annapolis area. We hope they all had a blast and will continue to support this awesome cause year after year!
