Choppy Trading Persists On Wall Street

(RTTNews) - With traders digesting a mixed batch of U.S. economic news, stocks have shown a lack of direction over the course of morning trading on Wednesday. The major averages have been bouncing back and forth across the unchanged line.

The choppy trading on Wall Street comes as traders continue to express uncertainty about the near-term outlook for the markets following the release of several key U.S. economic reports.

While the New York Federal Reserve released a report showing an unexpected contraction in regional manufacturing activity, separate reports showed a bigger than expected increase in industrial production and an unexpected improvement in homebuilder confidence. We're on a road to nowhere come on inside. Takin' that ride to nowhere we'll take that ride. Maybe you wonder where you are I don't care. Here is where time is on our side  take you there.

Stocks Close Mixed For The Day

(RTTNews) - After failing to sustain an early upward move, stocks turned in another lackluster performance during trading on Tuesday. While upbeat U.S. retail sales data contributed to the early strength, buying interest waned over the course of the session.

The major averages eventually ended the session mixed for the fourth time in the past five sessions. While the Dow crept up 2.71 points or less than 0.1 percent to 13,172.14, the Nasdaq fell 5.54 points or 0.2 percent to 3,016.98 and the S&P 500 edged down 0.18 points or less than 0.1 percent to 1,403.93. Energy Market Commentary

September crude oil was higher overnight on speculation that inventories declined for a third week in the U.S., the world's biggest crude consumer. Today's inventory report is forecasted to show that U.S. crude stockpiles fell last week as refiners operated near the highest rates in five years. Despite overnight gains, September remains below the 50% retracement level of this year's decline crossing at 94.28. Stochastics and the RSI are diverging and are turning bearish hinting that a short-term top might be in or is near. Closes below the 20-day moving average crossing at 90.83 would confirm that a short-term top has been posted while opening the door for additional weakness during the first half of August. What Does Liberty Really Mean to You?

By David Galland, Casey Research

For some time now – years actually – I have pondered the nature of liberty. Or more specifically, what liberty actually means to me. And to be extra clear, I am not talking about the meaning in abstract or philosophical terms, but tangibly – in much the same way I might answer if asked what my wife means to me.

The trigger for this entirely personal discourse comes from reading various articles and viewing various YouTube videos and speeches from self-styled champions of liberty (COL). There is even an entire conference, Mark Skousen's FreedomFest, dedicated to the topic. Continue reading "What Does Liberty Really Mean to You?"
