Mexican Peso Futures

The Mexican Peso in the March contract settled last Friday at 4594 while currently trading at 4730 hitting a 3 week high and if you have been following my previous blogs I've talked about this recently as prices hit all-time lows just a couple of weeks back against the U.S dollar as I think prices are just getting way overdone to the downside which is all based on the Trump administration being negative towards Mexico. The Peso is now trading above its 20-day moving average for the first time in months, but still below their 100-day as the short-term trend is mixed as I will wait for the 4 week high before entering into a bullish position as the chart structure will start to improve on a daily basis, therefore, lowering the monetary risk. I've been keeping a close eye on the U.S dollar for a short position, but it remains resilient still trading at about 100.50 as higher interest rates in the United States continue to support the U.S dollar. The next major level of resistance in the Peso is 4800, and if that is broken, you have to think that the multi-year bearish trend has finished.
TREND: MIXED
CHART STRUCTURE: SOLID

Gold Futures

Gold futures in the April contract settled last Friday in New York at 1,196 an ounce while currently trading at 1,202 up about $6 for the trading week still hovering right near a 7 week high as I'm currently sitting on the sidelines as I'm involved in other precious metals that have also broken out. Gold prices are trading above their 20 day but still below their 100-day moving average having a nice rally in recent weeks despite the fact that the U.S dollar remains strong as I am bullish the commodity markets in general and at present I am recommending bullish positions in silver and copper as I don't want to be overloaded all in one sector as that is poor risk management in my opinion. Gold Futures

Gold futures in the April contract settled last Friday in New York at 1,176 an ounce while currently trading at 1,196 up $20 for the trading week continuing its bullish momentum right at a 7 week high. I have been sitting on the sidelines in this market looking at entering into a bullish position as I do think the precious metal sector has bottomed, however, the chart structure needs to improve as the 10 day low stands at 1,149 which is too far away, in my opinion, risking too much money so be patient as we could be in a bullish position in several of the precious metals later next week. Gold prices are still trading above their 20-day but below their 100-day moving average telling you that the shorter-term trend is mixed as the U.S dollar is also near a 4 week low as gold prices have been hit over the last year as all the interest remains in the S&P 500 which is right near another all-time high. Trading is all about risk/reward & its not in your favor at the present time, but could be later next week or on a significant price decline as I'm looking at buying this market around the 1,180 level which could happen on any given day so be nimble and quick as trading does not resume until Tuesday afternoon because of the holiday weekend in the United States.
TREND: HIGHER
CHART STRUCTURE: POOR - IMPROVING

Crude Oil Futures

Crude oil futures in the March contract settled last Friday at 54.87 a barrel while currently trading at 53.24 down about $1.50 for the trading week as I'm sitting on the sidelines looking at a possible short position as prices are right near a 4 week low. Gold Futures

Gold futures in the February contract settled last Friday in New York at 1,151 an ounce while currently trading at 1,177 up about $26 for the trading week as I have been sitting on the sideline's in this market for several months as a possible bottom now may have been formed. The chart structure is poor at present as the 10-day low stands at 1,129 as the monetary risk is way too high to enter at this point so keep a close eye on this market on any type of price retracement & a couple more days off the calendar then we could be entering a possible bullish position as I do think the commodity markets will move higher in 2017. Gold prices are now trading above their 20-day but still far below their 100-day moving average has this has been a longer-term bearish trend for several years as the U.S dollar is still hovering right near 14 year high as that is the main culprit to the precious metals in recent history coupled with the fact of a very strong U.S stock market continuing to take money out of the precious metals and into other sectors. Gold Futures

Gold futures in the February contract settled last Friday in New York at 1,161 an ounce while currently trading at 1,135 down about $25 for the trading week retesting prices that we haven't seen since early February as this bearish trend is getting stronger to the outside on a weekly basis. I am currently sitting on the sidelines as the chart structure never met my criteria to enter into a short position as I was actually looking at a bullish position in silver but prices dropped dramatically, so I avoided the trade as I'm currently looking at a possible short position in the copper market. Gold prices settled last year at 1,065 still up about $75 or about 6% for the year & traded as high as 1,387 on July 6th as that is how far prices have fallen all due to a strong U.S dollar.
