Our Sponsored School - Financial Wellness Month

It is never too early for young people to improve their financially literacy and understand the importance of financial wellness. Although the 2007 recession negatively impacted many people's lives, this time of financial hardship seems to have helped young people recognize the importance of savings and financial literacy.

In a 2011 survey by Charles Schwab, 9 out of 10 teenagers say they have a greater appreciation for what they have and a better perspective on finances as a whole. Out of this sample, 86% also reported that they would like to learn about money management in a class (1). As poor financial choices can wreck anyone’s future financial wellness, it is imperative that young people learn about savings, credit, and investing. Dollar Tree, Inc. (NASDAQ:DLTR) Under The Microscope

Today, I'm going to be analyzing Dollar Tree, Inc.(NASDAQ:DLTR). Dollar Tree has had enjoyed a spectacular rise over the last 5 years. After trading below $7 in January of 2008, this stock stayed in a pretty convincing uptrend and made an all-time high of $60.19 on October 21, 2013.

This in-depth analysis of Dollar Tree is not to say the stock can’t go higher, perhaps later in the year, but rather noting certain technical elements that are falling in place that do not look good for this stock. You only have to look back at stocks like Netflix and Apple to see how they can have spectacular falls from all-time highs and still come back.

Not shown on today's chart are 2 negative engulfing lines that occurred in the past 9 weeks on the weekly chart. That is another bad technical sign for this market.

When Did Financial Wellness Matter To You?

As you might expect, the older people get, generally the more money they have saved. According to Fidelity Investments, by age 35, you should have saved an amount equal to your annual salary. By age 45, you should have saved three times your annual salary. At age 55, you should have five times your salary and when you retire at age 67, you should have eight times your annual pay (1).

While these guidelines don't guarantee any future financial wellness, it is sometimes helpful to have a savings goal for your future financial well-being.

As daunting as those guidelines may sound, we were wondering...

At what age did you first start considering your own financial wellness?

Are We On The Brink Of A Gold Rush?

Hello traders everywhere! Adam Hewison here, President of INO.com and co-creator of MarketClub, with your video update for Friday, the 10th of January.

The market action yesterday was really a welcome to the real world, as more and more traders returned from their vacations. Yesterday saw many weekly Trade Triangles turn red, indicating that certain markets may be slowing down and moving into a transition period.

Both the S&P 500 and the NASDAQ displayed weekly red Trade Triangles, indicating for intermediate term traders that a sidelines position in both of these indices was warranted. This is not to say that the move to the upside is over, it is just an indication that for now the upward momentum has been blunted and the safest place to be is on the sidelines.
