Option Trade For A Range Bound Stock

By: Adam Beaty

Credit card companies have been nonexistent for the summer.

American Express (NYSE: AXP) and Visa (NYSE: V) have been trading in a range since May. Mastercard (NYSE: MA) has seen a little bit of action thanks to some better-than-expected earnings. The stock traders should focus on is American Express. AXP has traded in a range from $72.00 to $78.00, and right now is bouncing off the lower levels. AXP is oversold, so a bounce is probable here especially if there is a market bounce to go along with it. Traders could get long here with a first target at $73.30 and another target at $75.00. Optimistic Banker Sees 'Encouraging Time in the Basins'

The Energy Report: Bruce, the price of natural gas has remained well below $4 per thousand cubic feet ($4/Mcf). How long can junior and midcap explorers and producers (EPs) of natural gas keep on going at this rate?

Bruce Edgelow: They're in a better place than they were a year before. The marketplace isand I'll hesitantly use the word"enjoying" about a 4550% increase in prices year over year. This new price is, for the most part, bringing producers back to a break-even or a modest return on cash flow. However, they clearly need a more robust price to generate the returns that the market expects of them.

TER: The spread between West Texas Intermediate (WTI) and Brent Crude prices has narrowed to just a few dollars per barrel. How is that affecting the crude EPs? Continue reading "Optimistic Banker Sees 'Encouraging Time in the Basins'"

Nokia stock surges on Microsoft takeover

Microsoft Corp.(NASADAQ:MSFT) is buying Nokia Corp.'s (NYSE:NOK) line-up of smartphones and a portfolio of patents and services in an attempt to strengthen its fight with Apple Inc. and Google Inc. and capture a slice of the lucrative mobile computing market.

"It's a bold step into the future a win-win for employees, shareholders and consumers of both companies," Microsoft CEO Steven Ballmer told reporters at Nokia's headquarters in Finland Tuesday. "It's a signature event." Continue reading "Nokia stock surges on Microsoft takeover"

Why Gold Is Making A Comeback

Gold (FOREX:XAUUSDO) is having a summer revival. The price of gold touched $1,420 an ounce this week, a three-and-a-half month high, as escalating tensions in the Middle East, volatile currency markets and renewed demand for jewelry in China and India pushed prices higher.

Gold has surged 15 percent since sinking to $1,212 an ounce, its lowest level in almost three years, on June 27. A gain of 20 percent or more would put the metal back in a bull market.

Gold's resurgence follows a rough ride this year.

Gold slumped 4.8 percent in the first three months of 2013 as the outlook for the economy improved while inflation remained subdued. Continue reading "Why Gold Is Making A Comeback"

A Strategy for Every Trader: Wave Trading

By: Toni Hansen of Trade Station

When you picture a trading strategy that can be applied to literally any asset class what does it look like? In more than 15 years of trading, there is one particular pattern that I've fallen in love with. I use it to scalp the index futures and to invest in my IRA. It's served me well through bull markets, bear markets, and those times in between as the trends reverse. In this video, I'm sharing it with you. It's a pattern that will look familiar to many of you, but unless you've been following my work over the years, you've probably never been shown what it is that makes it so successful. And without those details, you probably struggled to find that level of success. Watch it. Study it. Trade it. And then let me know what you think!
