GameStop Corp. (GME) is an Attractive Buying Opportunity

GameStop Corp. (SPX: GME) has been victimized of late by the market’s bearish sentiment for video game retailers. Analysts claim the gaming industry is making an abrupt transition into streaming. In order for this statement to be true, a rather large assumption must be made -- that consumer preferences within the gaming industry are perfectly aligned. This has led investors to largely overlook GameStop’s bottom line growth thus far in FY 2015, in addition to the company’s strong forward earnings projections.

As short interest approaches 50%, GameStop’s stock price has suffered through the turn of the New Year. The stock declined by 19% in less than 2 months after trading at $44.70/sh on November 20th, 2014. With a current price of $36.35/sh, GME is trading 22% below its 52-week high. How to Tame the Volatile Financial Markets

No matter how volatile the market, a FREE report shows you five ways the Elliott Wave Principle can improve your trading

By Elliott Wave International

Up, down, up, down; 200 points higher, 300 points lower; rinse and repeat!

It isn't easy being an investor in the U.S stock market these days. Honestly, it feels more like being in a clinical trial for mood stabilizers. Or, as the market oracle himself Warren Buffett described it in December 2014:

"Mr. Market is kind of a drunken psycho. Some days he gets very enthused. Some days he gets very depressed. And when he gets really enthused... you sell to him, and if he gets depressed, you buy from him. There's no moral taint attached to that."

Moral taint, no. But, there is a pretty significant learning curve attached to that. To wit: You have to know in quantitative terms what "really enthused" or "depressed" looks like on a price chart -- before the mood swing. As in tangible, objective criteria that signals Continue reading "How to Tame the Volatile Financial Markets"

Gold Futures

Gold futures in the February contract are slightly lower this Friday afternoon in New York after settling last Friday at 1,216 currently trading at 1,260 as I’m currently recommending a long futures position while placing your stop loss below the 10 day low which is around 1,209 risking around $50 or $1,650 on a mini contract plus slippage and commission. Gold futures are trading above their 20 and 100 day moving average hitting a 5 month high as the chart structure will also start to improve on a daily basis starting next week as the market has caught fire recently due to worldwide problems as money is pouring back into the precious metals and out of the S&P 500 in the beginning of 2015.

Yesterday the Swiss government announced they will let the Swiss Franc float rocketing that currency up while sending shockwaves through the bond and currency markets and it certainly looks to me that problems are here to stay here for a while as Europe is a mess and this could push gold up to the next resistance level of 1,300 – 1,320 so take advantage of any price dip while maintaining the proper stop loss risking 2% of your account balance on any given trade as gold has finally turned into a short-term bull market once again.
TREND: HIGHER
CHART STRUCTURE: IMPROVING

The Next Bombshell To Hit The Markets ... Greece

The big news of this past week has to be the Swiss National Bank (SNB) parting ways with the euro. Make no mistake about it, this was a game changer and the ramifications of SNB's actions will be felt for a long time to come.

The next big game changer will be Greece exiting out of the Euro and going back to its old currency the Greek drachma. It may not happen next week, or next month, but it will happen.

On to the markets - it has been quite a week for the indices, with the DOW, S&P 500 and NASDAQ all down over 2%. The strong downtrend in crude oil was unabated, with crude closing down the week with a loss of 3%. The only two positives of the week, are the dollar index, which closed the week with a gain of 0.7% and gold which climbed to its best levels in over four months with a gain of 3.16% for the week. A Black Swan Event Rocks Gold And The Swiss Franc Today

A black swan event is a metaphor that describes an event that comes as a surprise and has major consequences.

Today, such an event occurred causing the Swiss franc to soar as much as 30% and gold to jump to 4-month highs in chaotic trading after The Swiss National Bank (SNB) abandoned the cap on the currency's value against the euro.

The Swiss National Bank (SNB) said the cap, introduced in September 2011, was no longer justified. No one predicted, hinted or even contemplated that The Swiss National Bank would do this.

This move could well begin the demise of the euro that was cobbled together some 15 years ago. Personally, I am surprised to this day that this currency has survived as long as it has. The disparity between the work ethic of a country like Germany versus Greece is a joke - yet that is what the euro represents.

A Flight To Quality

As the Russian ruble continues to lose buying power, money is flowing into Switzerland from that country. I remember when I lived in Switzerland, flights used to arrive with passengers whose suitcases were stuffed full of illegal money. Make no mistake about it, this move by the Swiss National Bank is a game changer. Continue reading "A Black Swan Event Rocks Gold And The Swiss Franc Today"
