Why You Should Stay Away From REIT ETF's For Just A Little Longer

Matt Thalman - INO.com Contributor - ETFs

Last week the Federal Reserve once again announced they would not be raising interest rates. To many on Wall Street this was good news; cheap money would continue to be available, thus making it more affordable to borrow money to grow business's and spur economic activity.

But there is a downside to continued low interest rates which comes in the form of uncertainty about when rates will increase and how those increases will affect economic activity and mainly businesses that are directly affected by interest rates. When we look at who is most affected by rising rates, the finance sector is of course first to come to mind; banks and other lenders, but also the real-estate industry.

Whether it be individuals or businesses buying and selling homes or property rising interest means the overall cost of buying and owning that property increases, because of the higher interest rate the borrow will have to pay. Did You Catch The Netflix Move Like The Trade Triangles Did?

By now you have probably seen the extraordinary move that Netflix Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX) has made this year. But did you see how well the Trade Triangles captured the timing on these moves?

Netflix announced after the close yesterday that it is creating a seven for one stock split. This is a good move for Netflix as it was the fourth highest priced stock in the Standard & Poor's index.

Based on yesterday's close of $681.19, it would drop the share price down to $97.31. For the average investor, this makes Netflix shares a lot more palatable as it will probably generate a lot more activity in this stock.

Today, I would like to share with you how you would have fared using the Trade Triangle technology to time your moves in and out of Netflix.

The first chart shows the results using the monthly/weekly Trade Triangle strategy. This strategy produced a robust 32% return as of June 23rd.

The second chart shows how you would have fared using only the monthly Trade Triangles. This strategy produced a return of 49% as of June 23rd. Continue reading "Did You Catch The Netflix Move Like The Trade Triangles Did?"

A Small Bet On Natural Gas Could Make Traders Big Profits

By: Joseph Hogue of Street Authority

The surge in natural gas production has changed the energy landscape in the United States. Production jumped 44% between 2005 and 2014 compared to a decline of 4.5% over the previous nine-year period.

Prices for natural gas at the Henry Hub in Louisiana jumped 162% between 2002 and 2008 on lower production and an economic boom in emerging markets. By 2012, prices had fallen nearly 70% to $2.75 per million BTU. Beyond a few spikes on colder weather, prices have flatlined between $2.50 and $3.50 for the past two and a half years.

Natural Gas Prices and Production

Futures prices on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) suggest traders are not expecting much to change this year, with the December contract priced at $3.17. But two catalysts may prove speculators wrong and spark a rally in natural gas prices. Traders who get positioned now stand to make up to 50% profits without ever touching a futures contract.
