Next Week Could Change Everything

Next week, the Federal Reserve Board is set to meet between the 15th and the 17th to discuss the economy and if they should raise interest rates. There is not a unanimous opinion either in the marketplace, or the Fed itself regarding interest rates.

Should they choose to incrementally raise interest rates, the reaction in the market would tell us a lot about what the next big swing is going to be in stocks. I am not an economist nor do I have a crystal ball or inside track on what the Fed wants to do. What I do know is that the market will tell us what it wants to do and not the Fed. Right now, the major trend is down in all the indices and shows no real signs of reversing that trend any time soon. Continue reading "Next Week Could Change Everything"

Silver Update: The Time Has Come

Aibek Burabayev - INO.com Contributor - Metals

The less you watch, the more you see the whole picture. The last time I posted a Silver update was three months ago, and nothing much has happened in the market, but the attitude has changed with a fresh look. Let's take a look at the details on the chart below.

In my last Silver update, I had said that in the current downtrend it was preferable to take short positions with good protective stops just above resistance and the range had been defined within the $15-18.5 margins. Indeed, the price had broken below the $15 support level and dipped lower, testing the December 2014 low at the $14 level which would open the door to interim support at $12 level. What Tesla Needs to Know About the Graphite Sector

The Gold Report: What is the state of the current global graphite market and what impact might Tesla's construction of a battery Gigafactory in the desert in Nevada have on future demand for the mineral?

Blair Way: Because graphite is used in many energy-related applications (including electric vehicles, Pebble Bed Nuclear Reactors, fuel cells, solar panels and electronics ranging from smartphones to laptops), it has been categorized as a critical, strategic mineral by several governments including the United States and Europe.

What does this really mean? At this point in time it means nothing—graphite is in oversupply and prices are low. However, if China decided to stop supplying graphite to the world, then the West would be in trouble. This is highly unlikely to ever happen. As far as the impact of the Tesla plant on the greater market, that's yet to be defined in detail, but it will create more demand for graphite, both natural and synthetic.

TGR: How big is the graphite market? Continue reading "What Tesla Needs to Know About the Graphite Sector"

Here is a quick lesson in why it is important to keep focused in a scary market and how to achieve that focus.

Market Basics

First let us understand some market basics. Markets exist to facilitate trade. From moment to moment the market offers traders the opportunity to profit from price movement. It's an environment where every trader has the freedom to create his own results, i.e. all the choices and the power to exercise those choices reside with the trader.
