Markets Little Changed Heading Into Holiday Weekend

Hello MarketClub members everywhere. The markets are little changed today heading into the long holiday weekend here in the U.S. This comes on the heels of a six-day rally that took all three of the major indexes to all-time highs.

MarketClub's Mid-day Market Report

The big loser this week was oil, which is currently trading down 2.15% for the week. The drop came as OPEC moved to prolong supply cuts for nine months. This news disappointed traders that were hoping for more.

Analysis originally distributed on May 19, 2017 By: Michael Vodicka of Cannabis Stock Trades

First-quarter earnings season is almost over.

And the cannabis sector has been knocking it out of the park.

A lot of the stocks that we have covered over the last few months have stepped up and delivered excellent results.

Let's take a closer look.

In terms of pure growth, the best report I've seen came from Aurora Cannabis (ACBFF), one of the largest medical cannabis companies in Canada

Revenue jumped 2,500% from the same period last year to $5.2 million and was up 33% from just last quarter. Continue reading "Aurora Delivers 2,500% Revenue Growth in 12 Months"

Waiting On The Fed To Announce Rate Hike Plans

Hello MarketClub members everywhere. After erasing the losses from the biggest drop of the year last Wednesday, the markets have entered a bit of a holding pattern. Traders are waiting for the Federal Reserve to release their meeting minutes for the May meeting. Everyone is waiting to see if there will be a rate increase next month. Fed funds futures show that traders now see a 75% chance that the Fed will raise interest rates in June. The minutes will be released at 2 p.m. ET.

MarketClub's Mid-day Market Report

After six days of gains, crude oil has cooled off a bit as OPEC prepares for a crucial meeting in Vienna on Thursday. Meanwhile gold triggered a new red daily Trade Triangle indicating that gold may be preparing to head lower.

OPEC Caught a Tiger By The Tail

Robert Boslego - INO.com Contributor - Energies

Oil prices peaked in this latest cycle at about $107/b in June 2014. Prices had dropped below $80/b by the OPEC meeting in November 2014, and OPEC had had enough of America's shale oil taking away their market share and declared a market share battle.

Prices dropped for more than a year before bottoming January 2015, and retesting that bottom again February. On Friday, February 12th, the March crude futures contract spiked 12.2% based on speculation of a possible OPEC agreement to cut oil production. Even though the four oil producers announced that they had tentatively agreed to "freeze" their production, the subsequent price increases have added a total of about $4 per barrel to the OPEC Basket Price.

Although OPEC has not cut one barrel of production, the market has altered its distribution of potential future oil prices, raising its probability-weighted expected value. The fact that OPEC and Russian producers are talking and have agreed to something has led the market to think there could be movement toward shoring up prices from their disastrously low levels.

OPEC seems to be learning this lesson. Venezuela oil minister Eulogio Del Pino Tweeted on Tuesday that "an expanded meeting of OPEC and non-OPEC producing countries that support production freeze will be held in mid-March." Such an announcement may ensure the price gains hold.

INO Health & Biotech Stock Guide

Issue #15

BIOTECH, HEALTH & PHARMA NEWS

Healthcare sector earnings are underway and thus far overall earnings have been robust overall with pockets of softness. From the health insurer side, UnitedHealth (UNH) beat on both EPS and revenue with revenue coming in at a 9.4% year-over-year growth. From the pharmaceutical supply chain, Cardinal Health (CAH) beat on EPS, missed on revenue and disappointed investors when they offered a softer outlook for fiscal 2017 and 2018. This set off a sell-off in the pharmaceutical supply chain stocks. In the biotech space, AbbVie (ABBV) beat on both EPS and revenue with revenue coming in at 9.7% year-over-year growth, Celgene (CELG) beat on EPS and missed on revenue, however revenue came in at a 17.9% increase year-over-year, Regeneron (REGN) missed on EPS, but beat on revenue with a 10% year-over-year growth, Amgen (AMGN) beat on EPS however missed on revenue with a year-over-year decline of 1.3%. In the pharmacy and PBM side, CVS Health (CVS) beat on both EPS and revenue with a 3.0% year-over-year increase and Walgreens (WBA) met EPS and missed on revenue with a year-over-year decline of 2.4%.
