Top Silver Miners Are Vulnerable As Silver Hits Refreshed Low

Silver (FOREX:XAGUSDO) hit the previous low set in October at the end of last week in line with my expectations posted earlier. It undoubtedly affects the silver mining companies’ stocks, and in this post, I would like to update their performance for you.

The top silver mining stocks filtered last time by ROE are SSR Mining Inc. (NASDAQ:SSRM) (former ticker SSRI), Coeur Mining Inc. (NYSE:CDE) and Pan American Silver Corp. (NASDAQ:PAAS).

The chart above begins on the 8th of September, 2017 when silver shaped the peak and started to drop. For the past three months, there are no winners here. Silver (black) lost the least, but still a significant -8.5% for this short period. If you read my earlier post about the top gold stocks’ performance you found that there was at least one stock (Golden Star (GSS)) with the positive dynamics. The continued weakness in the silver price offers opportunities to buy silver stocks, which have followed the metal to the downside. This time I selected three of the top silver stocks by their P/E ratio for analysis.

Some of you even trusted me to analyze some high-tech stocks, I am honored, and maybe one day I will find time to do it. Silver stocks and gold stocks are in your focus as I understood. This post is dedicated to the silver stocks.

Silver Stocks: Is This Fallen Angel Worth A New Chance?

Aibek Burabayev - INO.com Contributor - Metals

People ask me why I prefer silver over gold recently. There are several factors why I like in silver, the first is the cheap price, you don’t need to use leverage to enter the market, the second is that I have a bearish view of the gold/silver ratio and the third, but not the last thing is that it is not favored by central banks or ETFs and flies die when elephants fight.

So, in this post I would like to analyze some silver stocks. As you might remember they scored record gains last year and I thought we could see more gains as precious metals crept to the upside after consolidation.

Mining Leaders Have More Room To The Downside

Back in August of this year, I shared with you the comparison charts of gold and silver stocks. The precious metals hit the new highs before that, and so did the mining stocks. After that, the prolonged correction of underlying assets (gold and silver) put pressure on the mining stocks. Below is the chart showing you the 6 stocks’ behavior.
